Fortification for your Birding Journey
There is something
different about this colorful birding newsletter. It is actually more of a
small magazine written for a readership that has one binocular lens in the
world of the aesthetic appreciation of birds and the other in the scientific
world of bird identification and the study of bird behavior. One only has to
look upon the artfully complex array of hues in the external topography of
birds, the painterly plumage of a Lewis’s Woodpecker or the ethereal images of
the Eagle and Cat’s Eye Nebula from the Hubble telescope to know that there is,
in my opinion, a natural cohesion between the aesthetic and the scientific. The
point at which these two aspects of birding converge can be stunning,
startling, and life enhancing.
A bit of history: In
its fourth year of publication the name of the newsletter was changed from Idaho
Magic Feathers to Majestic Feathers. Originally I published the
newsletter to foster interest in birding and conservation at Magic Reservoir in
central Idaho. That goal was accomplished, and soon the regional scope of the
newsletter was increased. Birding travelogues from across the U.S. as well as
the photographs, news, and species-specific articles are not limited to Idaho
and the Rocky Mountain region of North America. There is something here for
everyone! Majestic Feathers has subscribers from around the world.
Reading Majestic
Feathers is educational, spirit lifting, and a source of confirmation for
those who are so enthralled by birding that they often wonder if they are alone
in their obsession. This newsletter offers scholarly information, comic relief,
regional information, and gorgeous bird images to bolster you on your birding
journey.
